The Original Influencer: Paris Hilton
Today on February 17th, 1981, the hotel heiress, Paris Hilton, was born in New York City. Despite bad press and scandals, Paris has managed to make a successful career of her own personal brand, including becoming a New York Times best seller and a reality TV star. Keep reading to see how the heiress herself became the original influencer with a global following.
Hilton’s Not So Humble Beginnings
Paris Whitney Hilton was the eldest child of Richard Hilton and Kathy Richards Hilton, of the Hilton hotel fortune. As a child, Paris began modeling for charitable functions and grew up in a family full of actors.
Around the turn of the millennium, Hilton signed with Donald Trump’s modeling agency, T Management, where she was featured on campaigns with top clothing designers such as Christian Dior and Tommy Hilfiger.
Scandals and The Simple Life
As young adult, Paris attracted quite a stir of media attention due to her short-lived romances with other A-list celebrities and outrageous partying lifestyle. She soon built a reputation for being reckless and unlikable.
Paris then branched out into acting, where she made a cameo in Ben Stiller’s “Zoolander” and then partnered with long-time friend Nicole Richie to star in “The Simple Life”, where they were filmed working blue color jobs. Surpassingly, the reality TV show route was incredibly successful. “The Simple Life” would eventually run for five seasons. Hilton later dabbled in music, book writing, and launched a fragrance line worldwide.
