The Toyota Motor Corporation was established in 1933. Back then, it was a division of the Toyoda Automatic Loom Works, Ltd, a Japanese manufacturer founded by Toyoda Sakichi.
After the release of its first car production and incorporated as the Toyota Motor Company, Sakichi’s son, Kiichiro took over. However, the company was forced to halt operations when the economy hit rock bottom after World War II had ended.
Bringing the Bacon Home
Toyota’s car production went back into operation during the 1950s. To compete with American car manufacturers, Toyota executives studied the Ford Motor Company and brought the latest technology and ideas back home.
With facility and operation improvements, Toyota finally established Toyota Motor Sales, USA., Inc. on October 31st, 1957. Sales skyrocketed and business boomed as more Americans learned how reliable Toyota products were. The Toyota Corolla was introduced to the public in 1968 and American drivers loved it.
